Direct collaboration with clinical services, operations, and nursing leadership, works to determine care team and patient access needs, assist with resolution of systems problems, and improve processes to meet or exceed organizational quality and productivity metrics. Responsible for overseeing all pharmacy operations including Class A and Class D pharmacies. This position is responsible for managing the approved prescription benefit and clinical pharmacy services and for implementing contracted pharmacy networks for the 340b program.


  • Oversee the operations and functions of the Class A and Class D pharmacy services.
  • Develop and implement protocols and guidelines, in collaboration with providers, for the safe, effective and economic use of medicines.
  • Coordinate all activities of the clinical pharmacy staff.
  • Develop and implement procedures to monitor and modify drug regimens.
  • Implement process within the EHR to conduct and evaluate medicaion histories, assess compliance and suggest modifications so as to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Develop and implement a program review of clinic prescribing patterns in order to design targeted education to clinic providers.
  • Develop, implement and oversee a program that provides regularly scheduled pharmacotherapy presentations and in-services that provide drug information supported by evidence-based practice.
  • In collaboration with Primary Care Services and other Extended Care Team services, develop and maintain clinical pharmacy role in Population Health Management.
  • Monitor and respond to quality and productivity measures of all pharmacy staff.
  • Understand the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) scope as it relates to pharmacy services
  • Understand sources of revenue and expense, be able to comprehend financial statement, and work with Finance to explain operations
  • Understand rate setting and billing rules or regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards including The Joint Commission and CommUnityCare Standard Operating Procedures and CommUnityCare Policies and Procedures.
  • Develop and maintain favorable internal relationships, partnerships with co-workers.
  • Collaborate with all members of the care team in providing patient-centered care.
  • Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent CommUnityCare in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Uphold and ensure compliance and attention to all company policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.
  • Complete all mandatory training and maintain appropriate credentials/licensure

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of local, state and federal laws pertaining to clinical pharmacy activities as related to the use of drugs and other substances.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance standards required by licensing agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of drug distribution chain and general trends in the pharmaceutical marketplace.
  • Knowledge of current pharmaceutical literature and drug terminology.
  • High level of skill at building relationships within the organization and outside the organization.
  • High degree of knowledge and competency in clinical pharmacy issues and procedures.
  • Requisite skills and ability to manage multiple facets of an integrated clinical care program.
  • Basic computer systems knowledge, including but not limited to Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Department Management:

  • Direct service line operations and execution of initiatives, goals and programs.
  • Manage implementation of new service line initiatives and ensure coordination of strategy and initiatives.
  • Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations

Minimum Education:

  • Master’s degree in pharmacy.

Preferred Education

  • Doctorate (PharmD)

Required Licensure:

  • Texas-state pharmacy licensure.

Minumum Experience:

  • 7 years of clinical pharmacy practice experience, including 2 years ambulatory experience.
  • 5 years of leadership in a clinical setting with demonstrated experience managing employees.
