Overview

In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient) and staff across all disciplines and departments is responsible for providing direct and appropriate clinical care and treatment to adult and pediatric patients. Convenient Care is focused on supporting patient access through efficient and effective quality medical care as a compliment to available primary care services. Convenient Care clinics are open extended hours, weekends and holidays and focus on acute illness, acute injury and connecting patients back to their primary care provider as medically appropriate. Providers assigned to convenient care report to the clinic lead. Leadership Opportunity: For qualified physicians, with leadership or mentorship experience in a clinical setting, an additional administrative role as Clinic Lead may be considered. The Clinic Lead, in collaboration with administrative and nursing partners, works to support, improve and advance the Convenient Care service line. The clinic lead reports to the Associate Chief Medical Officer - Primary Care. The clinic lead role is supported as 0.1 full-time equivalent (FTE) as administrative.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions
Performs comprehensive physical assessment of patients using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation and percussion.
Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition.
Diagnoses and treats diseases, disorders, and injuries based on patient’s medical history and results of physical assessment and refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
Prescribes medications and therapies for treatment, preventive care, and contraception.
Instructs patients and their families regarding family planning, procedures performed, plan of care, and follow‐up visits.
Directs professional and ancillary health care staff during treatment of patients.
Supervises Advanced Practice Providers in accordance with medical board requirements and internal protocols.
Responds to inquiries from staff and patients regarding preventive health and treatments.
Interacts respectfully and collaboratively with patients and their families, striving to develop favorable relationships with families.
Compiles patient medical data including health history, treatment plans, results of physical examination, etc. and
records in electronic medical record.
Essential Functions
Directly effects improvements in patient well-being through accurate and timely diagnosis and delivery of relevant, high quality medical care.
Develops and maintains favorable internal relationships, partnerships with co-workers, including clinical managers, clinical support staff, providers and business office staff.
Completes all mandatory training and maintains appropriate credentials/licensure.
Reports required information including deaths and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities.
Ensures all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent CommUnityCare in a highly professional manner at all times.
Plans, promotes, demonstrates, recommends, and coordinates high standards of medical practice.
Upholds and ensures compliance and attention to all company policies and procedures as well as the overall mission and values of the organization.
Collaborates with all members of the care team in providing patient-centered care.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Clinic Lead: Work collaboratively with operations and nursing partners to support, improve and advance the convenient care service line. Clinic lead is an additional duty assigned by Clinical Services.

Qualifications

Required:

M.D. or D.O. from an accredited educational institution

Unrestricted licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas
Board Certification in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine (or alternate nationally recognized board certification and as approved by the Chief Medical Officer) or passage of Board Certification examination within two (2) years of employment
Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for the purpose of writing prescriptions
Current Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Current Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
